My 7 Super Shots: Part two of the travel photo party
You are in the mood to party, alright, here comes part two of my 7 Super Shots, a travel photo party started by Hostelbookers. (Here´s part 1 of my 7 Super Shots)
These are my choices of a photo that…
5. …makes my mouth water
I love figs. Due to my birth date, I am a fig in the Celtic tree horoscope – which might be one reason for my deep passion for figs. Maybe. Another reason might be the great memory of picking fresh figs from a tree in San Marino – and eating them straight away of course. Here, we indulge figs after a great weekend in the Soca Valley in Slovenia. Full of wonderful moments, lots of fun, girls talk and just a good time. The figs were the perfect mouth watering fruit for the perfect travel experience.
6. …tells a story
Did you ever want to talk to God (or a higher source or universe or your intuition)? Just call!
The picture was taken at Burning Man, where you can find the most extraordinary things in the middle of the desert of Nevada – like a phone booth with a direct connection to God. For me, the picture is a reminder for myself that getting in touch with some higher source could be easy at times – you just have to call. The universe can only answer if you ask.
7. …I am most proud of
That´s the hardest choice. The picture I chose is from a sunrise we watched at Haleakala, Maui. It was not taken by me, but by my friend Jeff, but it was my camera and captures a special moment. We got up super early (I think it was 3.30 am) to drive up to the volcano Haleakala and watch the sunrise with another travel buddy.
It was pure magic.
The day before, we were driving down the road to Hana and stopped to jump down a waterfall. No problem, I thought, I used to raft, was canyoning and did this incredible 10-meter-jump some years ago. I am brave. I don´t know fear. Well, I knew fear when I was up there on the cliffs looking down at the waterfall. Tears came to my eyes, I was shaking, trembling, got a panic attack. Every bad emotion you can think of – there it was.
But 15 minutes after standing there, crying, I did it: I jumped down the waterfall! And hurt my back. Nothing tragic, it turned out well – but I could feel the pain for the next seven days or so.
And after all that, here I was, holding the rising sun in my hands and feeling the joy and the miracle of a bright new day.
